Former Chelsea head coach, Graham Potter claims there is a dislike for Marc Cucurella in Chelsea

The former head coach for Chelsea claims that Marc Cucurella faced some struggles in his early stage in Chelsea. The Spanish full back was bought from Brighton in the 2022 summer transfer window for £55 million.

The fans of Chelsea disliked the Spaniard left back when he arrived to Chelsea, even though he strived so hard to give his best, there was a huge hate for Marc.

The former head coach describes the issue as being ‘hostile’ and claims there was a huge dislike for him when he arrived at Chelsea firstly. The issue behind the hostility treatment for the Chelsea full back started when the Chelsea fans expected more from him, but he couldn’t deliver due to some difficulties such as injuries.

The youth player for Barcelona was unable to deliver as the fans wanted him to, which led to the Chelsea fans being hostile towards him as claimed by the Chelsea former head coach. The former blue coach speaks on Sky Sports that he is excited about Marc Cucurella’s excellent performance lately because he had a rough start when he joined the blues. He claimed that the Spaniard came to Chelsea for a high fee and that period of time, Chelsea was facing a hard time and not performing well, which might be the reason he took some stick while at Stamford bridge. He claimed it was quite hostile for Marc Cucurella during this period of time.

Graham Potter said there was point in time when Marc Cucurella was trying so hard to think. He claimed when Chelsea are not getting the result they desire, Marc was thinking and trying hard to have the crowd with him, but it was obvious that there was a real hate for the 26 years old left back. Graham said he also had to think if he should include Marc Cucurella in the games or substitute him in. Graham Potter said he loves Cucurella because he didn’t relent despite all the odds stacked up against him. He said he remembered playing the full back against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League competition. He said Marc Cucurella was the man of the match, and it’s a pleasure because the Spaniard got the character and spirit to play football.

Furthermore, he also includes that Marc Cucurella is an excellent person while dealing with his teammates and with good behaviors around the place and how he fights so hard on the pitch. The former coach claimed the left back performance against Bukayo Saka was a fight that requires a full commitment and a high level of intensity, and he is getting rewarded for the spirit.
