It was a blockbuster clash as espected between Manchester City and Arsenal yesterday, and it seem as if Arteta has mastered the art of going band for band against his former boss, Guardiola.
The match ended in a 2-2 draw with Erling Haaland’s opener in the 8th minute. However, a rather controversial scene occured to the build up of Arsenal’s equalizer.
The reffere, Micheal Tailor had awarded Arsenal a free kick which was taken quickly leading to the beautiful goal scored by Italian defender, Ricardo Calafiori.
Guardiola was very furious about Arsenal’s equalizer after he claimed that the reffere called up Kyle Walker when he blew a free kick in favour of Arsenal and didn’t wait for Walker to get back to his position before allowing the gunners take the free kick which gave Martinelli all the chances he needed to assist Calafiori.
In this vein, Guardiola has vowed that his players would never go to meet referees again whenever they are called. Talking to Beinsports, Guardiola said:
“Next time, when the referre ask the captains to talk to them. We will not go. Because we have to go back to our positions. And at the same time, avoid the quick pass. We all know they play quick. We have to organize better defense or situations like that happen”
